FS1029 - this week's featured stamper Joan Tallent. I found this INSPIRATION.
When I saw Joan's card, I immediately thought of this fun nurse image from Art Impressions. The image was just too perfect to pass up for a get well card, especially paired with the humorous sentiment, "The nice nurse is on vacation...get well soon." Sometimes a little laughter is exactly what is needed to brighten someone's day when they are not feeling their best.
I started by stamping the image and coloring it with Copics. Once the coloring was complete, I stamped the coordinating sentiment that comes with the set and trimmed down both the image and sentiment panels. The cheerful colors and playful design really help bring the image to life and make it the star of the card.
To help the focal elements stand out, I layered the image and sentiment onto black cardstock. The dark matting adds definition and creates a nice contrast against the brighter colors in the image. After that, I dug through my stash of designer paper that I am determined to use up and found a pattern that worked beautifully with the color palette. It is always rewarding when a forgotten piece of patterned paper ends up being just right for a project.
The designer paper was layered onto black cardstock and then adhered to a white card base. The layered design keeps the focus on the image while adding interest and texture to the overall card. I finished the card with a few gems for a touch of sparkle and shine.
This card was such a fun one to create. The combination of the whimsical image and lighthearted sentiment makes it a cheerful way to send get well wishes and hopefully bring a smile to someone who could use a little extra encouragement.
