More Christmas and Fall

We hope you will join us for all the creative fun during Fallidays! There are plenty of challenges, inspiration, and opportunities to share your creativity with fellow card makers. Be sure to visit Splitcoaststampers and play along with the challenges. You can find all the details HERE.

FF26janemomB - Fall/Winter action scene: with person, animal or fictional character doing something

For this Fallidays challenge, we were asked to create a Fall or Winter Action Scene featuring a person, animal, or fictional character doing something. I chose a beautiful Nativity scene featuring Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, and a pair of lambs gathered around the manger. The image was already pre-colored, making it perfect for creating a quick card while still showcasing a meaningful Christmas scene. The figures gathered around the newborn Baby Jesus create a peaceful moment that beautifully captures the true spirit of the holiday season.

To create the card, I trimmed the Nativity image to size and layered it onto a piece of yellow cardstock. The yellow mat helps draw attention to the warm tones in the image and adds a soft glow around the scene. The panel was then mounted onto a blue card base, providing a beautiful contrast and bringing out the colors in the night sky.

To finish the card, I added a Merry Christmas sentiment and popped it up on dimensionals for extra depth and dimension. The raised sentiment adds a subtle focal point without taking away from the beautiful Nativity scene. With its simple layering and heartfelt image, this card is a wonderful reminder of the joy and wonder of Christmas.

FF26lacyquilter - Use Diagonals on your Card

For this card, I stamped this adorable Rubbernecker gnome image, colored it with Copic markers, and then die cut it using the coordinating die. The bright colors and fun details make this little gnome the perfect focal point for a cheerful holiday card.

For the background, I pulled out a green gingham designer paper from my stash that I am working to use up this year. I paired it with a diagonal die-cut panel that reminds me of a candy cane pattern, making it a wonderful match for the Christmas theme. The candy cane panel was layered over the green gingham paper, then matted with white cardstock before being attached to a green card base. The combination of patterns and colors creates a festive backdrop without overwhelming the focal image.

Once the background was assembled, I popped the gnome up on dimensionals to give him extra prominence on the card. The sentiment was also attached with dimensionals, adding another layer of depth and interest. To finish the design, I scattered a few gems around the card for a touch of sparkle and shine. The playful gnome, festive papers, and sparkling accents come together to create a fun Christmas card that is full of holiday charm.

Christmas Gnome
FF26pixordia - DIY Snowman-make your own snowman with punches or dies.

For my DIY Snowman card, I started by die cutting several circles from music paper to create the snowman's body. To add a little age and dimension, I lightly sponged brown ink around the edges of each circle before assembling the snowman. For the nose, I cut a small triangle from orange cardstock and also sponged the edges to give it more depth and definition.

Once the basic snowman was assembled, I added the finishing details by hand drawing his smile and attaching a pair of punched brown twig arms. A festive red and green ribbon was tied around his neck to create a cheerful scarf, bringing a fun pop of color to the vintage-inspired music paper. These simple elements help give the snowman plenty of personality and charm.

After the snowman was complete, I popped him up on dimensionals and positioned him on a white snowflake-embossed panel. The embossed background adds wonderful texture and reinforces the winter theme without distracting from the focal image. The panel was then layered onto gold mirror cardstock for a touch of holiday sparkle before being attached to a white card base.

To finish the card, I added a Merry Christmas sentiment and popped it up on dimensionals for added depth. The combination of the vintage music paper, textured embossing, festive scarf, and gold accents creates a cheerful handmade snowman that is sure to bring a smile during the holiday season.

FF26PMR - card or scrapbook page with large word and leaves

USEIT2026 - Give Thanks die cut

For this card, I finally found the perfect opportunity to use a Give Thanks die cut that has been sitting in my embellishment tote for quite some time. Sometimes those special pieces just need the right project, and this challenge was a perfect fit. I paired the die cut with a beautiful piece of handmade paper that my mother-in-law gave me for Christmas last year. The texture and unique look of the handmade paper added so much character to the design while creating a wonderful backdrop for the sentiment.

To keep the focus on the handmade paper and the die cut, I chose a simple layout. The handmade paper panel was layered onto white cardstock and then attached to a black card base. The black cardstock provides a striking contrast and helps both the sentiment and the texture of the paper stand out.

This card came together in less than five minutes, proving that simple designs can often be the most effective. With the combination of the textured handmade paper, the elegant sentiment, and the clean layout, this quick card has a warm and heartfelt feel that is perfect for expressing gratitude.

More Fall and Christmas

We hope you will join us for all the creative fun during Fallidays! There are plenty of challenges, inspiration, and opportunities to share your creativity with fellow card makers. Be sure to visit Splitcoaststampers and play along with the challenges. You can find all the details HERE.

FF26stampingwriterA - Flavors of the holidays. Incorporate some flavor you associate with a holiday into a card. Ex: peppermint or gingerbread for Christmas

For my flavor-inspired card, I chose Peppermint, a classic holiday favorite that always brings to mind Christmas treats and festive gatherings. To create the focal panel, I stamped this fun candy image from Inkadinkado in red and green inks onto tissue paper. I then used the Faux Silk technique by crumpling the stamped tissue paper and carefully smoothing it back out before adhering it to a white cardstock panel. The wrinkles created by the technique give the background wonderful texture and a soft fabric-like appearance that works beautifully with the holiday theme.

Once the faux silk panel was complete, I added a green ribbon as a trim to help frame the design and bring out the green tones in the stamped candies. The ribbon adds a nice finishing touch while providing an additional layer of texture. I then created the Merry Christmas sentiment panel and attached it with dimensionals, allowing it to stand out against the textured background.

To finish the card, I layered the panel onto red cardstock and then onto a white card base. Several red pearls were added as the final embellishments, bringing a bit of shine to the design and reinforcing the festive peppermint color palette. The combination of the faux silk technique, traditional Christmas colors, and candy-themed imagery creates a cheerful holiday card that is both elegant and full of seasonal charm.

Christmas Candy
FF26MaryR917 - Any Fun Fold card design featuring a Scarecrow

For my card, I started by stamping this wonderful scarecrow image and coordinating sentiment from DRS Designs onto a white cardstock panel using black ink. The scarecrow was colored with Copic markers, bringing all of the fun fall details to life. Once the coloring was complete, I trimmed the panel to size and layered it onto red cardstock to help frame the image and make the warm autumn colors stand out.

Next, I reached for a woodgrain designer paper from my stash of papers that I am working to use up this year. The rustic wood pattern was a perfect complement to the country feel of the scarecrow image. I cut the designer paper into panels and layered each piece onto red cardstock before assembling them onto a C-Fold card base. The red matting helps tie all of the elements together while adding a nice pop of color throughout the design.

To complete the card, I created a red and white belly band that wraps around the folded card. The colored scarecrow panel was then layered over the belly band, becoming the focal point of the design. The combination of the rustic woodgrain papers, cheerful scarecrow image, and interactive C-Fold design creates a festive autumn card that is full of seasonal charm and perfect for celebrating fall.

FF26GardenCrafts - Use Wrapping Paper on a Card

USEIT2026 - Brads

For this card, I used a piece from a decorative Christmas box that my sister gave me several years ago. The box was well loved and had become quite worn, but there were still many beautiful sections that could be repurposed for cardmaking. I trimmed one of those festive pieces to size and layered it onto a white card base, instantly creating a charming holiday background with plenty of vintage Christmas appeal.

For the focal image, I stamped this adorable penguin from Stampin' Up onto white cardstock and colored him with Copic markers. The bright colors bring out the sweet details of the image and add a cheerful touch to the design. Once the coloring was complete, I layered the panel onto the card front using dimensionals, giving the penguin extra prominence against the decorative background.

To finish the card, I added a few scattered brads from my tote of embellishments that I am working to use up. The brads add a bit of texture and interest without overwhelming the design. I love how this card combines a recycled element, a cute holiday image, and stash-busting embellishments to create a festive Christmas card that is both meaningful and fun.

Penguin Joy
FF26bzzzeee - Let's Get Cozy with a Quilt card! Create your own quilt blocks or use dies, dsp...Fall, Winter, or any holiday!

For this card, I pulled out a Christmas paper pack that has accumulated quite a few smaller scraps over time and put those pieces to good use. I trimmed the various patterns with a stitched rectangle die and arranged them into a quilt-style design. The mix of coordinating holiday papers creates a festive patchwork effect while also helping me make progress on my goal of using up more of my designer paper stash.

Once the quilted panel was assembled, I layered it onto silver mirror cardstock to add a touch of holiday shine and help define the edges of the patterned pieces. The completed panel was then attached to a white card base, allowing the colorful Christmas papers to take center stage.

To finish the card, I stamped a Merry Christmas sentiment in blue ink and punched it out with an oval punch. For extra detail and elegance, I layered the sentiment onto a silver mirror scalloped oval before popping it up on dimensionals. The raised sentiment provides the perfect focal point and coordinates beautifully with the silver matting, bringing the entire card together. This design is a wonderful way to use up smaller paper scraps while creating a festive and eye-catching Christmas card.

More Fall and Christmas Cards

We hope you will join us for all the creative fun during Fallidays! There are plenty of challenges, inspiration, and opportunities to share your creativity with fellow card makers. Be sure to visit Splitcoaststampers and play along with the challenges. You can find all the details HERE.

FF26JayBee - Use chocolate colors on your card - Dark, Milk, White

For my card, I pulled out this adorable bear image from Stampin' Up and colored him with Copic markers. The soft coloring helped bring out all of the sweet details, giving the bear plenty of personality and making him the perfect focal point for a birthday card. Once the coloring was complete, I carefully fussy cut the image so it would stand out against the background layers.

For the layout, I selected a couple of brown designer papers from my stash. Since I am working to use up more of my patterned paper collection, it was fun to find papers that complemented the bear so well. White cardstock mats were added beneath each layer to help define the patterns and create contrast. The completed design was then mounted onto a brown card base, tying all of the warm tones together.

Once the layout was assembled, I popped the bear up on dimensionals to give him extra depth and make him the center of attention. The birthday sentiment was also attached with dimensionals, adding another layer of interest to the design. The combination of warm earth tones, coordinating designer papers, and the charming bear creates a cheerful birthday card that is sure to bring a smile to the recipient's face.

Birthday Bear
FF26PeonySnail - Holiday Lights

For my holiday light, I chose a classic street lamp as the focal point of my card. I die cut all of the elements from a Tim Holtz die set using black cardstock and then added white highlighting to various areas to bring out the details. The contrast of the black die cuts against the colorful background creates a striking winter scene and gives the card a vintage feel.

To create the atmosphere for the scene, I used shades of purple ink and carefully blended them onto the background. The sponging helps create the look of snow-covered ground, soft shadows, and a winter evening sky. The purple tones add a unique touch while still maintaining a cozy holiday feel. It is amazing how a little ink blending can completely transform a simple background into a dramatic seasonal setting.

Once the background was complete, I added dimensionals behind both the street lamp and the figure to create depth and make the scene come to life. The Merry Christmas sentiment was also popped up on dimensionals, helping it stand out against the background. The combination of layered die cuts, soft ink blending, and dimensional elements creates a beautiful holiday card that captures the peaceful feeling of a snowy winter evening illuminated by a festive street light.

Carolers
FF26rubyheartedmomB - View Through the Window--create a fall or winter scene framed by a window--extra credit if you do something to make your window shiny like glass

For my window scene, I pulled out a designer paper that looks like wallpaper and used my Spellbinders window die set to cut both the wallpaper panel and the window frame. The wallpaper pattern creates the cozy feeling of being inside a warm home while looking out at a snowy winter evening.

To create the view outside the window, I stamped the trees and then sponged the sky and moon to build the nighttime scene. I also added Copic shading to the snow, creating soft shadows and giving the landscape more depth and realism. These details help bring the outdoor scene to life and make it feel as though you are peeking through the window on a peaceful winter night.

To finish the window scene, I added this adorable cat die cut from XPress. I lightly sponged yellow ink onto the cat to coordinate with the colors used on my girl and to create a warm glow within the design. The cat adds a charming touch and makes the scene feel even more inviting.

For the final touches, I popped the cat, window, and Christmas sentiment up on dimensionals to add depth and dimension to the card. The layered elements draw the eye across the scene and help create a cozy holiday card that captures the warmth of home during the Christmas season.

Christmas Window
FF26taclaryA - Make a Fall Postage Collage Card

For my Postage Collage card, I used a postage-themed stencil and die set from Waffle Flower to create the focal panel. Using shades of orange, green, blue, and brown, I blended the colors through the stencil to create the individual postage sections. The combination of colors gives the card a warm and cheerful look while allowing each section of the collage to stand out.

To enhance the postal theme, I pulled out some tiny postage stamp embellishments and added them to the panel. These small details help give the design a more authentic postage-inspired appearance and add an extra layer of interest to the finished card.

Once the collage panel was complete, I die cut it and layered it onto gold mirror cardstock for a touch of shine and elegance. The panel was then mounted onto a green card base, which complements the colors used throughout the design. To finish the card, I die cut the word "Thanks" from white cardstock and layered it onto a gold mirror shadow layer before adhering it to the card front. A few scattered gold sequins were added as the final embellishments, bringing a little sparkle to the design and completing this colorful and eye-catching thank you card.

More Fall and Winter Cards

We hope you will join us for all the creative fun during Fallidays! There are plenty of challenges, inspiration, and opportunities to share your creativity with fellow card makers. Be sure to visit Splitcoaststampers and play along with the challenges. You can find all the details HERE.

FF26DellsDani - Feeling nostalgic, Technique Lovers Challenge #01 add keyword TLC01, KISSING Technique, TAGS

TLC01 - Kissing Technique

I had so much fun with this technique that I decided to make a card using it as well. The technique is surprisingly easy but creates such a striking result. Simply stamp a solid image with a lighter ink color, then stamp a detailed image directly over the top using a darker ink. For my card, I selected this adorable snowman from DRS Designs along with a snowflake stamp, also from DRS Designs. The snowman was stamped using a light blue Memento ink, while the snowflakes were stamped over the top with a navy ink to add definition and detail. Once the image was complete, I die cut it into a tag shape and added ribbon to finish the tag.

I stamped a second snowman and carefully fussy cut around the edges to create an additional focal element. For the background, I pulled out several blue and white scraps from my stash and combined them into a layered layout. Each patterned paper was matted with white cardstock, then layered onto light blue cardstock before being attached to a white card base. The variety of papers adds interest while keeping the winter color palette soft and cohesive.

To finish the card, I popped both the snowman and the sentiment up on dimensionals for added depth and dimension. A few punched snowflakes were scattered around the design as the final embellishments, helping to reinforce the snowy winter theme. I love how this simple stamping technique adds so much detail to the snowman, and the combination of layered papers and dimensional elements creates a cheerful holiday card that is full of seasonal charm.

FF26gutsport56 - Salted background

For my card, I started by creating a beautiful wintery background on watercolor paper. I first added water to the panel and then brushed on blue watercolor, allowing the colors to blend naturally across the surface. While the watercolor was still wet, I sprinkled salt over the panel and set it aside to dry. The salt technique created wonderful texture and visual interest, giving the background the appearance of a snowy winter sky.

Once the panel was completely dry, I die cut several framing layers to help showcase the textured background. I then die cut this adorable snowman from various cardstock scraps and assembled all the pieces. To give him a little extra personality and dimension, I added white highlights to several areas of the snowman, helping him stand out against the blue background.

The snowman and Christmas sentiment were both popped up on dimensionals, adding depth and drawing attention to the focal elements. The completed panel was layered onto black cardstock and then attached to a white card base. To finish the card, I scattered a few snowflakes around the design, adding the perfect final touch to this festive winter scene. The combination of the salt watercolor technique, layered die cuts, and dimensional accents creates a cheerful holiday card that captures the magic of a snowy winter day.

Snowman Christmas
FF26MNStamper - Halloween Silhouette - create a colorful background and add a silhouetted focal point character or scene

For this card, I started with a white cardstock panel and created an ink-blended background using a masking technique. I first placed a mask over the panel, leaving a large circle exposed in the center. Inside the opening, I blended orange and yellow inks to create the glowing effect of a full moon. The bright colors immediately became the focal point and set the stage for the spooky Halloween scene.

Once the moon was complete, I placed a circle mask over it and removed the original mask from the rest of the panel. I then blended purple and orange inks around the moon, creating a dramatic sky and adding depth to the background. The contrast between the warm moon and the darker sky gives the card a fun Halloween atmosphere and helps the focal images stand out.

After the ink blending was finished, I stamped the witch image and the Happy Halloween sentiment, both from DRS Designs. The silhouette-style image works perfectly against the colorful background and captures the classic feel of Halloween night. To finish the card, I layered the scene onto purple cardstock and then onto a black card base. The dark layers frame the artwork beautifully and complete the spooky look of this simple but striking Halloween card.

FF26morgainegeiser - Fall Scrapbook & card layout challenge - geometric shapes

SC18 - splitcoaststampers.com sketch #18

I loved the look of this card layout and knew I wanted to use it as the inspiration for my project. To create the background, I selected a couple of wood-themed designer papers from my stash of papers that I am working to use up this year. The rustic patterns provided the perfect foundation for a warm and inviting Thanksgiving card. Both the base layer and the square panels were framed with gold mirror cardstock, adding a touch of elegance and helping each section stand out.

To bring in a little more color, I added an orange polka dot designer paper behind the center squares. The bright orange complements the fall theme beautifully and adds a cheerful contrast to the woodgrain papers. Once all of the layers were assembled, the completed panel was attached to a white cardstock base, allowing the rich colors and textures to take center stage.

For the decorations, I die cut several leaves from cardstock scraps in a variety of fall colors and arranged them around the focal area. I also die cut this adorable Karen Burniston squirrel along with his acorns and carefully layered all of the pieces together. To finish the card, I popped both the squirrel and the Happy Thanksgiving sentiment up on dimensionals, creating extra depth and making them the focal points of the design. The combination of rustic papers, colorful leaves, gold accents, and the charming squirrel creates a festive autumn card that perfectly captures the spirit of Thanksgiving.

Fall Birthday

CAS920 - Autumn

For this card, I started with a white card base and added a piece of designer paper from the stash I am working to use up this year. The pattern reminded me of tree branches, which made it a perfect match for this adorable House Mouse image.

I stamped the House Mouse toward the bottom of the white cardstock so I could leave a wide open space at the top and keep the panel clean and simple. Next, I stamped the birthday sentiment under the image, then colored everything with copics to bring out the sweet details.

FF26MerMer5050 - Autumn Collage (no special die required - arrange a combination of squares and rectangles in various sizes onto your background and place your Autumn related items inside these shapes)

USEIT2026 - Bees

For my Autumn Collage card, I pulled out a wonderful leaf set from Bo Bunny and stamped three different leaf images using a variety of rich fall colors. Each leaf was trimmed and layered onto orange cardstock to help highlight the warm autumn tones. The leaves were then arranged across a striped background panel, creating a colorful collage effect that perfectly captures the feeling of the season. To add a little extra depth and interest, I popped the center leaf up on dimensionals, allowing it to stand out from the other elements.

Next, I stamped the Thank U sentiment and layered it onto brown and orange cardstock mats that coordinate with the colors found throughout the design. The sentiment was also popped up on dimensionals, helping it become a focal point while adding additional dimension to the card. For a fun finishing touch, I added a couple of bee embellishments from my tote of crafty items that I am working to use up. The bees were attached with dimensionals as well, giving them the appearance of fluttering over the autumn leaves.

To complete the card, the striped panel was layered onto orange cardstock and then onto a rich rust-colored layer. These colors were chosen to pull out several of the shades found in the background paper and stamped leaves, bringing the entire design together. The combination of fall colors, layered elements, and playful bee accents makes for a cheerful autumn thank you card full of warmth and seasonal charm.

FF26ForestRanger - Pumpkin Carving - include at least one jack-o-lantern on your card

For this card, I pulled out a fantastic Halloween die set from Spellbinders and used several cardstock scraps to die cut all the pieces needed for the scene. One of my favorite things about detailed die-cut projects is watching all of the individual elements come together. After cutting the pieces, I carefully layered them to build the scene and added dimensionals behind several of the elements to create extra depth and make the design feel more interactive.

Once the focal image was assembled, I layered it onto a fun gold designer paper from my stash. Since I am working to use up more of my designer paper collection this year, it was exciting to find a pattern that paired so well with the Halloween theme. The gold background adds a surprising touch of sparkle and helps the die-cut elements stand out. The panel was then layered onto black cardstock before being mounted on a purple card base, creating a classic Halloween color combination.

To finish the card, I added a Happy Birthday sentiment since I have several Halloween-themed birthday cards to make this year. The festive greeting transforms the spooky design into a fun birthday card that is perfect for celebrating an October birthday. The combination of layered die cuts, dimensional details, and bold Halloween colors makes this card both playful and memorable.

Fun Halloween Birthday
FF26DCinkit - Holiday Beverage (hot cocoa, apple cider, tea, coffee) suggestion: decorate your mug to reflect your holiday of choice.

For my holiday beverage, I chose one of my favorite winter treats, hot cocoa. To create the focal image, I die cut this fantastic Santa cup and added dimensionals behind the top portion of the cup to give it extra depth. I then die cut and assembled all of the festive accessories, including the candy cane, holly, chocolate bar, Santa belt, and marshmallows. Layering all of these pieces together transformed the cup into a fun and whimsical holiday focal point that is full of Christmas charm.

Once the cup was complete, I layered it onto a piece of music paper, which adds a wonderful holiday feel to the design. A strip of red and white decorative designer paper was added along the left side of the panel to bring in more festive color and pattern. The completed panel was then layered onto red cardstock and attached to a black card base. The black background helps all of the bright holiday colors stand out beautifully.

To finish the card, I popped the Merry Christmas sentiment up on dimensionals and placed it above the Santa cup. The raised sentiment adds another layer of dimension while helping balance the overall design. Between the cheerful Santa-themed cup, festive embellishments, and layered patterns, this card captures the cozy feeling of enjoying a warm cup of hot cocoa during the holiday season.

FF26CreepsMomA - Halloween card featuring black and purple as your main colors

IC1088 - Pacha Soap Co - INSPIRATION

F4A868 - Orange and Purple

For this Halloween themed challenge, I pulled out this great image from Inkadinkado and stamped it onto white cardstock. It was perfect for the soap inspiration too, with the swirl in the soap looking like the smoke from the kettle. To soften the look and add a little spooky atmosphere, I blended purple ink around the edges of the image panel. I also added just a touch of color to her hair, the fire, and the top of the kettle, allowing those details to stand out while keeping the overall design simple and dramatic.

For the card base, I started with purple cardstock and added a black mat layer. To create an interesting background, I selected several coordinating black and gray designer papers and arranged them into a layered layout. The variety of patterns adds texture and visual interest without overpowering the focal image.

Once the background was complete, I popped the image up on dimensionals to give it extra depth and make it the center of attention. Several purple gems were added around the design for a bit of sparkle and to tie in the purple accents throughout the card.

To finish the card, I chose to use a birthday sentiment instead of a traditional Halloween greeting. Since I do not send many Halloween cards, this allowed me to create a card that will actually be used while still embracing the fun Halloween theme. The combination of spooky imagery, rich purple accents, and a birthday sentiment makes this a perfect card for someone celebrating a birthday during the Halloween season.

FF26stampinspooky - Thanksgiving (thinking of you, thank you, or just a thankful sentiment)

For this challenge, I chose the Thank You option and took the opportunity to use some of the designer paper from my growing "use it up" pile. One of the paper packs is filled with rich fall colors, making it perfect for this project. I selected several coordinating patterns and combined them to create a fun and interesting layout. To help each piece stand out, I added white cardstock mats beneath the designer papers and cut some of the pieces into banners for added movement and visual interest.

Once the layout was complete, I layered the finished panel onto a brown card base. The warm brown cardstock complements the autumn colors in the designer paper and helps tie all of the elements together. The mix of patterns and banners creates plenty of detail while still allowing the design to feel balanced and easy on the eye.

To finish the card, I stamped a Thank You sentiment and punched it out with an oval punch. An additional punched layer was added behind the sentiment for extra definition before popping it up on dimensionals. The raised sentiment provides the perfect focal point and adds depth to the design. This card is a great example of how a few coordinating papers can come together to create a warm and cheerful thank you card while helping reduce that ever-growing designer paper stash.

FF26janemomA - DIY Holiday Tree

For my DIY tree, I followed the Ever-Green Tree tutorial on Splitcoaststampers.com HERE.

For my tree project, I started by punching several white twig pieces from my ever-growing pile of white cardstock scraps. The individual twigs were layered onto a triangle base to create the shape of a Christmas tree. It was a great way to use up scraps while adding lots of texture and dimension to the design.

Once the tree was assembled, I wrapped it with gold baker's twine that had been sitting on my desk waiting for just the right project. The twine creates the look of garland draped across the tree and adds a lovely touch of shine. To embellish the tree, I added several gold gems and finished it with a punched gold glitter star at the top. The combination of gold accents gives the tree a festive and elegant appearance.

After completing the tree, I layered it onto a white embossed panel to provide additional texture without distracting from the focal point. The embossed panel was then matted with a layer of gold glitter cardstock before being attached to a white card base. The mix of textures, sparkle, and dimension makes this card feel both classic and festive, while the gold accents add just the right amount of holiday elegance.

FF26hbrown - Colorful Autumn Pumpkins - use other colors besides just orange

For this challenge, I decided to create a blue pumpkin for the "Not Orange Pumpkin" theme. I stamped this wonderful pumpkin image from DRS Designs onto watercolor paper and then used my Zig watercolor markers to bring it to life. Choosing shades of blue instead of the traditional orange gave the pumpkin a fresh and unexpected look while still maintaining all the charm of a fall card. The watercoloring added soft shading and depth, helping the pumpkin become the star of the design.

Once the coloring was complete, I stamped a birthday sentiment in the upper corner of the panel. I then used a stitched rectangle die to cut out the focal piece, adding a decorative border that helps frame the image and sentiment. The stitched detail provides just the right amount of texture without taking away from the watercolor focal point.

To finish the card, I layered the panel onto a woodgrain designer paper from my ever-growing stash that I am working hard to use up this year. The rustic wood pattern pairs beautifully with the fall theme and helps the blue pumpkin stand out even more. The completed panel was then mounted onto a white card base, creating a clean finish that keeps the focus on the unique color palette. This was a fun way to put a different spin on a traditional fall image while creating a cheerful birthday card.

FF26CAKath - Inspiration challenge with either a photograph or a saying for a Christmas theme.

I was inspired by the vintage feel of the postcard and the beautiful poinsettias featured in the inspiration piece. To create my card, I stamped this lovely image from The Ton in the upper left corner and again in the lower right corner of a kraft cardstock panel. The repeated design helps frame the card while drawing the eye toward the sentiment, which was stamped in the center of the panel.

For the coloring, I reached for my Prismacolor pencils, which are my favorite medium when working on colored cardstock. The pencils blend beautifully on kraft cardstock and allow the colors to appear rich and vibrant while still maintaining a soft, classic look. I especially enjoy how the colored pencil shading brings depth and dimension to floral images, making the poinsettias feel more realistic and detailed.

Once all of the coloring was complete, I trimmed the panel to size and mounted it onto a black card base. The black cardstock provides a striking contrast against the kraft background and helps the colored images stand out even more. The combination of the vintage-inspired design, warm kraft cardstock, and richly colored poinsettias creates an elegant holiday card with a timeless feel.

Fall & Christmas Cards

We hope you will join us for all the creative fun during Fallidays! There are plenty of challenges, inspiration, and opportunities to share your creativity with fellow card makers. Be sure to visit Splitcoaststampers and play along with the challenges. You can find all the details HERE.

FF26snietjeA - Christmas pockets

For this challenge, I pulled out some festive Christmas wrapping paper from my stash. The paper is fairly thin, making it perfect for folding and layering, which worked beautifully for this Christmas Pockets project. It is always fun to find creative ways to use materials beyond their original purpose, and the colorful wrapping paper added plenty of holiday cheer to the finished design.

Following the challenge instructions, I created the pocket card base and folded each of the four individual envelopes. Once the envelopes were assembled, I decorated each one with a red punched snowflake. The bright red accents help tie the design together and add a festive touch to each pocket.

For the inserts, I started with red cardstock and then punched a snowflake from the white layer before adhering it on top. This allowed the red cardstock underneath to peek through the snowflake opening, creating a fun contrast and adding an extra decorative detail to the cards tucked inside the pockets.

To finish the project, I added a length of red and white baker's twine to tie the Christmas pocket closed. The twine not only serves as a practical closure but also adds a classic holiday touch that complements the colors and festive feel of the entire project. This was a fun challenge and a wonderful way to create a unique presentation for holiday greetings and small seasonal notes.

FF26cjnalley - Feature leaves on faux silk background

Following the Faux Silk Tutorial found HERE, I began by stamping white tissue paper with a beautiful leaf image from DRS Designs. Using several fall-colored inks, I randomly stamped the leaves across the tissue paper to create a colorful autumn background. Once the stamping was complete, I crumpled the tissue paper to create the characteristic wrinkles that give the faux silk technique its distinctive texture. After carefully smoothing the paper back out, the rich colors and creases combined to create a lovely silk-like appearance.

The finished tissue paper was then adhered to a white cardstock panel, allowing the texture and stamped leaves to take center stage. To help highlight the warm fall colors, I added an orange mat behind the faux silk panel, followed by an additional white layer before attaching everything to an orange card base. The layers help frame the focal panel and draw attention to all the beautiful detail created with the faux silk technique.

To finish the card, I tucked a piece of orange grosgrain ribbon down the center of the design for additional texture and color. The thank you sentiment was stamped, punched out, and layered onto an orange punched mat before being popped up on dimensionals for added depth. As a final touch, I scattered a few gold gems around the card, adding just the right amount of sparkle and interest. The combination of rich autumn colors, textured faux silk, and elegant embellishments makes this a wonderful card for sharing a heartfelt note of thanks.

Thank You
FF26Dockside - Feature a seasonal animal; bats, draft horses, Christmas mice etc

For my featured animal card, I pulled out this wonderful Halloween image from Inkadinkado and stamped it on white cardstock. To help the image stand out, I added soft purple sponging around the edges, creating a subtle glow that complements the spooky theme while adding a touch of color and depth.

To frame the focal image, I die cut a black cardstock shape in the form of a coffin. The dramatic black frame works perfectly with the Halloween scene and helps draw the eye directly to the stamped image. For the card base, I started with purple cardstock, followed by a black mat layer. I then selected a piece of black and gray designer paper that was a perfect match for the image. The designer paper was cut into four strips and arranged with narrow black borders between each section, creating additional visual interest and texture across the background.

Once the card base was complete, I popped the focal image up on dimensionals to add depth and make it the center of attention. For a fun and unexpected twist, I turned this Halloween-themed card into a birthday card at my sister's request. The Happy Birthday sentiment was also accented with purple sponging around the edges, helping to tie it into the rest of the design. The combination of spooky Halloween elements and a celebratory birthday greeting makes this a unique card that is sure to bring a smile to any October birthday recipient.

FF26sleepyinseattle - Woodwork

For this final challenge of the day for Fallidays, I started with a black cardstock base and built the design from there. A white cardstock layer helps brighten the card, while a piece of woodgrain designer paper from my growing "use it up" stash adds warmth and rustic charm. It is always satisfying to find the perfect paper for a project, and the wood pattern provided an ideal backdrop for the focal image.

For the centerpiece, I pulled out the beautiful Spellbinders Nordic Deer die set and die cut all of the layers from red, white, cream, and black cardstock. After assembling the various pieces, the deer really came to life with its layered details and striking contrast of colors. The rustic wood background pairs wonderfully with the Nordic-inspired design, giving the card a cozy holiday feel.

Because the antlers are quite delicate, I chose to adhere the deer directly to the woodgrain paper rather than popping it up. This provided additional stability while keeping all of the intricate details secure. To finish the card, I stamped a Merry Christmas sentiment and die cut it using a banner die. The banner was tucked just beneath the antlers in the upper corner, adding the perfect finishing touch without distracting from the handsome deer. The combination of rustic textures, layered die cuts, and a simple holiday greeting creates a classic Christmas card that is both elegant and festive.

Fall Birthday

WT1122 - Fall, anything related to fall

For my card, I began with a clean white card base and layered it with a wood‑grain designer paper from the stack I am working to use up this year. The warm texture of the wood pattern creates a natural, rustic backdrop that sets the tone for the rest of the design.

Next, I trimmed down the polka‑dot designer paper, also from my use‑it‑up stack, and rounded opposite corners on each piece to give them a softer, more playful look. These panels are layered directly over the wood background, adding contrast and a touch of whimsy while still keeping the layout cohesive.

For the leaves, I used stacked napkins, die cut them with a Simon Says leaf die, and added watercolor to bring gentle, organic color to the delicate layers. Once they were dry, I arranged them across the card front, letting the soft texture of the napkins complement the patterned papers. The card is finished with several gold gems for a little sparkle and the birthday sentiment popped up on dimensionals to create a crisp focal point.

Fall Thanks

FS1002 - this week's incredibly talented featured stamper is jdmeeks also known as Donna. I found this INSPIRATION.

For my card, the large leaf immediately made me think of this sweet House Mouse image, so I stamped it, colored it with Copics, and trimmed the panels down. Each piece is framed with an orange layer to echo the warm tones in the image. For the background, I pulled out a bold sheet from the stack of designer papers I’m working to use up this year.

To finish the design, I arranged the layout, so the sentiment is flagged off the image, then added several orange candy dots for a simple, coordinated touch.

WT1073 - Bring on Fall

I began this card using the napkin technique, choosing a beautiful leafy napkin as the base to set a soft, organic tone. Then I reached for an adorable die cut set from Spellbinders and cut the pieces using a mix of paper scraps, adding texture and variety. Once assembled, the die cuts were layered over the napkin background to bring the design to life.

To finish the card, I added a birthday sentiment, popped up on dimensionals for a bit of lift and emphasis.
