Scrappy Birthday

WT1099 - Scrappy Cards

For this card, I wanted to make good use of the small scraps on my desk, and I had a stack of half‑inch by 1.5‑inch designer paper pieces waiting for a project. This punch turned out to be the perfect way to use them, letting me showcase a mix of patterns while clearing out a generous handful of scraps. I punched all the pieces, arranged them on white cardstock, added a gold layer for contrast, and mounted the finished panel on a white card base.

To bring in a focal element, I reached for my Spellbinders stitched butterfly and used some floss from the back of my chair that I am working to use up. I stitched the wings, added dimension, and finished the butterfly with a gold body. Once it was in place, I added the birthday sentiment and a few gold mirror candy dots to complete the design.

Love

SC1097 - this week's sketch challenge on splitcoaststampers.com

For this card, I used a die from Simon Says Stamp that allows me to create my own cross‑stitch patterns. I found a heart design online that was slightly too large for an A2 card front, so I resized the pattern to fit a 4.25 x 5.5 panel. The heart is stitched in pink, purple, and white.

After the stitching was complete, I added a purple frame followed by a white frame and layered everything onto the finished panel.

In case anyone wonders the amount of time to stitch an entire panel and create a full background when there is no clear pattern, this took about 10 hours. The very special person getting this card is absolutely worth the effort.

Purple Birthday

FS984 - this week's incredibly talented featured stamper is iluvpaper2. I found this amazing INSPIRATION.

I was inspired by the background in the inspiration piece and immediately thought of this Spellbinders die cut. I die cut the panel, stitched it with purple DMC floss, and layered it onto coordinating purple cardstock.

Since the inspiration featured a beautiful flower, I carried that theme forward by adding several small purple flowers, shaped with a stylist, along with green leaves. I finished them with purple pearls for added detail. These elements frame the birthday sentiment, which is elevated on dimensionals for extra depth.

Paint Birthday

FS983 - this week's incredibly talented Featured Stamper is Laura aka stampjournal. I found this INSPIRATION.

I was inspired by the rainbow of crayons and chose to create a rainbow of paint instead. Each paint element is stitched with silver DMC floss, adding a touch of shimmer and texture.

The paintbrush handle is crafted from birch bark collected from a tree on my aunt's property, giving the design a natural and personal touch. The brush itself is popped up on dimensionals for added depth, and the card is finished with a cheerful birthday sentiment.

Christmas Bauble

FS982 (FS83) - Blast from the past (I chose card crazy) - INSPIRATION

I have long admired Denise’s gallery, and for this project I was inspired by her Christmas Bauble design. I selected a beautiful die cut from Spellbinders, cut the pieces, and stitched them with DMC floss. I also prepared the base layer and added stitching for extra detail.

After completing the stitching, I layered all the die cut elements together, trimmed the bauble with a ribbon, and finished the poinsettia with a touch of Nuvo Drops.

I love this stitched die cut set from Spellbinders and I am also trying to use up some DMC floss that is hanging on the back of my craft chair. For today's card, I die cut the butterflies, stitched them with the brown DMC floss then layered them on an embossed white layer adding dimensionals.

The card was finished with gold sequins, a birthday sentiment and layered on gold mirror.

75th Birthday

FS956 - this week's very talented Featured Stamper is MARY ROSS. This is my Inspiration.

I was inspired by the sweets on the adorable card and pulled out this cute sweets die set from Honey Bee Stamps. I die cut the layers, stitched the ice cream and added pink to the die cut glitter layer.

The 75 balloons were die cut and bakers twine was added and then several dimensionals were used.

IC1015 - Coral and Tusk - INSPIRATION

For my card, I cut out this cute Simon Says dog die cut from two different browns. I then layered on this stitched frame using more of the floss from the back of my craft chair that I am trying to use up.

The dog is popped up on dimensionals as well as the birthday sentiment and then the frame is layered on a fun designer paper that uses colors found in the floss.

This will be another of my pet donation cards.

Especially for You

SC1061 - this week's sketch on splitcoaststampers.com

For my card, I am trying to use up some DMC floss that is on the back of my craft chair. I love these butterflies and have done a few of them just waiting on cards.

The butterfly, from Spellbinders, was layered in a die cut square that I left in the die cut and sponged some green in the frame.

I recently got the Spellbinders hot foil machine, and I have been practicing with it so I can use it for my son's graduation card.

This card was finished with a few green candy dots.

Card Kit for Sharon

MMTPT873 - Love Sharon to Pieces (card kit)

Our Teapot Tuesday challenge this week is a little different. One of our fellow crafters has recently undergone surgery and isn’t able to craft as much as she would like. To support her, we’re sending card kits that she can simply glue together whenever she feels up to it.

For my contribution, I die-cut some butterflies and stitched them using thread from the back of my craft chair (I’m trying to use it up!). Once assembled, I glued them together.

I also wanted to test my new foil machine in preparation for my son’s graduation card. Knowing that Sharon will understand receiving a few experimental pieces, I cut the test pieces down, glued them onto my card, and included them in her kit.

To inspire her, I’m sending along a sample card as well. However, she’s free to use the pieces as they are or combine them with contributions from other crafters—whatever works best for her when she’s ready to create again.

Thank you for stopping by to see my card today. I truly appreciate your kind comments. If you leave me a note, I’d love to visit your blog in return!

Stitched Birthday

WT1048 - Cotton

For my card, I pulled out one of my favorite stitched die cuts from Spellbinders. I then used some cotton DMC floss that has been on the back of my craft chair for a few years. I am trying to use it up and this die cut is perfect for making some gorgeous cards with it. Once it was stitched, I added some green gems and the sentiment popped up on dimensionals.

Stitched Butterfly

TLC1048 - Back Fold (5 Minute Card)

I was thrilled to see that TLC team featured one of the fun folds that I found. It really takes 5 minutes to get this fold and is great for a quick card with a bit of a fun fold. It is called Back Fold and can be found HERE.

For my card, I had this butterfly already stitched (from Spellbinders). I am trying to use up some DMC floss that is on the back of my craft chair and when I have a free moment, I stitch up a few things with it for some quick cards.

I die cut the ovals, created the fun fold and added the layers and the butterfly. The card was finished with the sentiment and a flower.

For my card, I pulled out a couple of coordinating orange papers and cut down the green base layer adding a strip of green between the designer papers.

Next, I die cut the stitched sunflower from Spellbinders and added sponging to the center of the flower. I then added gold stitching to the flower and brown to the center.

The sentiment is popped up on dimensionals and a few sequins were added.

Bee Birthday

IC987 - Home is Where the Boat Is - Inspiration

For my card, I used this great stitched bee from Spellbinders. I cut the layers and added the stitching. I used silver DSM floss to the wings and they really shine with that floss.

The bee layer is a napkin from my stash of napkins that I have collected over the years and I finished the card with 2 large corner gems.

The wings and sentiment are both popped up on dimensionals.

I am hoping I can convince one of my family members to give this card to me for my birthday as I really love this bee. They ask me for cards a year in advance then give the cards to others because they forget that I tell them how much I love certain cards. LOL!

IC967 - Carla Bank Art and Pinterest - INSPIRATION

For my card, I pulled out this Spellbinders die cut and used more of the floss that is being stored on the back of my craft chair. I am trying to use up this floss as it does not store well with my other floss.

Once the stitching was done, I layered the card front on a coordinating orange and then punched out the label and added the birthday sentiment.
