F4A861 - National Senior Citizens Day
USEIT2026 - Flowers & Leaves
For this special milestone birthday card, I began by reaching into my tote of items I am working to use up this year. I pulled out several of the floral pieces that have been waiting for just the right project, and they felt perfect for celebrating an 80th birthday. Their soft colors and layered petals bring such a lovely touch to a card meant for an important occasion. I also selected more of the gorgeous designer paper from my stash that coordinates beautifully with these flowers, giving the entire card a gentle and elegant feel.
I layered the patterned paper on white cardstock and then placed it on a light blue card base to create a clean and fresh foundation. Down the center of the card, I added a length of vintage cording, which brings a bit of texture and a charming handmade detail. Next, I die cut the scalloped blue layers and stamped the birthday sentiment in matching blue ink. The sentiment is cut with a Tim Holtz oval die and popped up on dimensionals so it becomes the focal point of the design.
For the number eighty, I die cut the numerals three times in white and once in the same blue as the sentiment layers. Stacking them together gives the numbers wonderful dimension and helps them stand out without overwhelming the rest of the card.
To finish the design, I framed the sentiment with several flowers and leaves from my tote. Their placement adds a soft, celebratory feel and ties together all the colors and textures. It is always satisfying when saved pieces come together so beautifully on a finished card.
