Mirror Image Stamping

 Mirror Image Stamping

I have had a few people ask me how I get such a good impression for mirror image stamping. I have grabbed a few images and have details of what each image represents. I hope this helps you with mirror image stamping.

This first image is putting the stamp face down on the flat red rubber stamp in Misti.

Once the image is on the lid of Misti tape a piece of card stock to the edge of my Misti. This image shows washi  tape on the edge of the Misti and the card stock. Don't skimp on the tape this is the key to keeping the image from  sliding. Also I would suggest using a low tack tape so you do not tear your cardstock once you remove the tape.

Open the taped card stock.

Next add ink to the image you want to mirror image stamp and close the Misti lid so that the inked image is stamped to the red rubber.

Finally, close the card stock over the inked image and gently rub your hand over the card stock.

If your impression does not come out great you can easily add more ink to your stamp and close it again over the red rubber. Then open the Misti and close the card stock over the red rubber again. Some silhouette images might require more ink and a second or third impression on your card stock.

The image shown is from DRS Designs called SLEEPING GNOME - 833F. Sadly, DRS Designs is no longer in business and the stamp is not available.

The Mirror Image stamp I used is from Unity Stamp Co.

Give it a try, show me how yours comes out.

  2. Thanks for the tutorial Lisa. I will give this a try once I get a piece of plain red rubber. Is that something I can pick up at a craft store? Is it just plain red rubber or is it something created especially for mirror imaging. Your tutorial was easy to follow with clear directions. Looking forward to giving this a try!

    1. Thank you so much Sheila. There are several companies that make a mirror stamping. I got mine from Unity Stamp Company. I will add that to my description. I am sure others will find that helpful.

    2. I wonder if an embossing pad (rubber) would work? I think I will try it. Great tutorial. Thank you.
