Thankful Picnic

As crafters we tend to purchase tons of items for later use and "hoard" them. Yes I am one of those. The picnic sticker on this was purchased more than a year ago and is the first sticker out of the bunch that I used. The red strip of paper is a small piece of designer paper (DP) that was used on a project some time ago. I like trying to find ways to use up scraps and try to go to my scrap basket first to create projects.  Another great way to use up scraps is to punch down smaller pieces and that darling butterfly is a punch that my niece has and I have a ton of paper and she punched a few of these darling butterflies for me. Adding a couple of tiny gems to the butterfly adds just the right touch of glam.

Brushos are a new product for me to use and the first couple of times I used them I was not feeling the use of them. Reading one of the challenges for the Dare to get Dirty I had initially thought I would use a Brusho background. Well after reading the challenge details I found that the background I created would not fit the challenge so this was created and I loved it and could not use it. So I set it aside and hoped for another fun challenge to use it and along came a great challenge. As soon as I read the challenge details I knew I would use this back ground. This was the first Brusho background I created and loved the outcome. It was  created just sprinkling super small amounts of Brushos and then spritzing with water. When I say small I mean the really small amounts of Brushos it seems it might not be enough but when you add the water with a spray bottle it really expands the color.

Hunting Anyone?

Another great time saving way to create a card when in a hurry is to color a few images in advance and build up your stash of ready images to add to a card. This fun image was colored in advance and when I needed to create the 42 different cards in a week for the dare to get dirty challenges on SCS having this image ready was a great time saver. Also keeping track of the colors used you can take pictures of them or write them on the back of the image in pencil then before cutting down and mounting the image keep track of the copics for future coloring to save time.

Halloween

Here is a great tip, when you need a fast card with an eye catching detail try sponging on a portion of the card then stamp the image and throw on a few sequins. It can be a fun, fast and eye catching CAS (clean and simple) card and takes only moments to create.

This image is one of my favorite from AI stamps. It can be really fun to see what this guy is battling with his tongs and this fire bomb was such a fun addition. The fire bomb was added with three sprays a deep red, a pink and a yellow.

Perfect Blend

I love playing in mixed media and adding texture. When you add color to the texture you can go a whole new level to your card crafting. This texture paste was mixed with just a drop of tan reinker and created a textured card with real coffee looking spills.

Market Day

Another super fun image from Heartfelt Creations. Colored with copics and picking up some other fun items on my desk to finish off the card. The flowers, peddle and ladybug were already stamped and die cut and sitting in my UFO projects (unfinished objects). The ribbon was a great scrap my mom gave me that she was unable to use on one of her craft projects as she uses much larger pieces for her sewing projects and the smaller pieces are great for adding to my cards.

One thing to note, saving smaller pieces of paper can be a great way to save money. The added white lace trim is a cut off piece from cutting down images and then run through the lace punch. It adds tons of depth and eye candy to a card and is a cut off from other projects. So save those pieces because you can use it for another project. Go to that bag first when creating a card and see what candy you can create on a card.
