USEIT2026 - Lace

For my card, I started by pulling out a sheet of designer paper from the stack I am working to use up this year. I cut it down for the main panel and mounted it on a black card base to give the pattern a clean frame and a little extra contrast. From there, I reached into my tote of items I am trying to finish and found a length of lace that felt perfect for softening the design. I added the lace across the bottom of the card, then cut a black strip and ran it through a paper crimper to add texture. That crimped strip sits neatly at the top edge of the lace and helps transition between the layers.

Next, I used more of the same designer paper and mounted it on black cardstock so it would stand out from the base even though the patterns match. On that panel, I stamped this cute birthday cake image from Recollections and colored it with Copics, keeping the colors bright and cheerful to contrast with the darker framing. Once it was trimmed down, I added it to another black frame to keep the definition consistent throughout the design.

To finish the card, I added a simple birthday sentiment popped up on dimensionals and placed it just below the cake image. The added height gives it presence without overwhelming the focal point, and the overall layout comes together with a nice mix of texture, pattern, and color.
