House Mouse Birthday

SC1109 - this week's sketch on splitcoaststampers.com

For my card, I pulled out this adorable House Mouse image and colored it with Copics. I paired it with a designer paper pad from my stash that I am working to use up this year, trimming the layers to build the background. While sorting through my supplies, I found a piece of handmade paper that worked perfectly to add texture and to echo the yellow in the cheese the little mouse is holding.

To finish the design, I added a few grey candy dots to tie in with the mouse and the grey layers, giving the card a clean and coordinated look.

We Make a Sweet Pair

CAS893 - Birds of a Feather

For my card, I reached for an adorable owl stamp from Pink and Main. I stamped the image on white cardstock, colored it with Copics, and popped it up on dimensionals to give it a little lift. The finished panel is set on a green card base, which adds a fresh, cheerful contrast to the soft coloring.

Westie

FS1000 - This week's featured stamper is Claudette aka lamoore. I found this INSPIRATION.

I am always drawn to a dog‑themed inspiration card. From Claudette’s design, I chose an all‑over dotted background paper in place of an embossed layer, then added a coordinating dotted panel for the next layer. For the sentiment panel, I used a descriptive designer paper that highlights details about the Westie, pairing it with a Westie image from Hunkydory to keep the theme cohesive.

I shifted the horizontal strip downward, widened it, and pulled colors from the descriptive Westie layer to keep everything unified. A thank you banner and a small top banner repeat those colors for balance. Each layer is trimmed in red to echo the tones in the Westie image, and the card is finished with a scattering of pearls for a soft touch.

This will be another of my pet donation cards.

Birthday Wishes

IC1061 - Zenglo - INSPIRATION

For my card, I was inspired by the beautiful color combination on the inspiration image and immediately thought of this gorgeous, patterned paper that carries those same hues. I tore the edge for a softer, organic look, then layered it over a bold purple plaid. Those two panels were added to a die‑cut white layer and then mounted on a coordinating purple base.

To finish the design, I added a birthday wishes sentiment, a few delicate die‑cut butterflies, and a paperclip accent from my tote of items I am trying to use up.

Scrappy Birthday

WT1099 - Scrappy Cards

For this card, I wanted to make good use of the small scraps on my desk, and I had a stack of half‑inch by 1.5‑inch designer paper pieces waiting for a project. This punch turned out to be the perfect way to use them, letting me showcase a mix of patterns while clearing out a generous handful of scraps. I punched all the pieces, arranged them on white cardstock, added a gold layer for contrast, and mounted the finished panel on a white card base.

To bring in a focal element, I reached for my Spellbinders stitched butterfly and used some floss from the back of my chair that I am working to use up. I stitched the wings, added dimension, and finished the butterfly with a gold body. Once it was in place, I added the birthday sentiment and a few gold mirror candy dots to complete the design.
